Can't connect to a Bluetooth barcode scanner

I use blueman-manager to connect to a Bluetooth barcode scanner. In one of the dialogs I enter a code. That should make the scanner beep, which means I have to enter that very code on the scanner (by scanning appropriate barcodes). That's the procedure and it works under Windows and aptosid (formerly known as sidux). Alas, not so on Arch. Here "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." is printed on the console I launched blueman from.

HAL and the Bluetooth deamon are running.

I could figure out, that it must have something to do with policykit, but I can't get no farther. Anyone an idea, how to resolve this issue?

Many thanks in advance

P.S.: Last ugrade by "pacman -Syu" performed yesterday (which didn't change anything for the better in this regard).
