Just wondering....

Sorry if this is obvious as I could not find a definitive answer.   I am almost positive the answer is yes, but thought to ask.    If I just use the stock Arch kernel,  then upgrading it, using pacman  [ pacman -Syu ] is all I need to do, correct?

Re: Just wondering....

Yes. It will retrieve the latest kernel and upgrade properly by executing the usually commands ie. make clean bzImage modules, copying files, image, etc.
Have a look at the PKGBUILD in /var/abs/kernels/kernel26 (kernel26 for ide 2.6) for the specifics.

Re: Just wondering....

If you use lilo as bootloader, don't forget to run lilo (as root) after each kernel upgrade.

To be honest, there _Can_ be gotchas.
If you use kernel modules, not shipping withe the stock kernel, you will have to upgrade them too. Famous example is the nvidia package, whic needs a simple pacman -S nividia to install itself into the correct module directory. But these are special cases.
