Wireless keyboards / mouse

Im looking to buy my first wireless keyboard / mouse for my HTPC.

I dont want anything to expensive, but something that just works out of the box would be great.

Under $40 for both ideally.

Re: Wireless keyboards / mouse

My wife and I both use Logitech MK300 wireless kb/mouse combos. My wife sort of has an HTPC (AsRock S330), running Arch, of course they work out of the boxc. Keyboard is quiet, has a nice feel...so I like it very much.

Re: Wireless keyboards / mouse

Its probably a bit more expensive than what you are after, but I use a Gyration mouse/keyboard so that I don't always have to have the mouse on a surface to use it - I can also use it a bit like a wii-mote.  Plus it has a long range which is what I need for what I have set up.

For more of what you are looking for, I would say that I have always enjoyed Logitech's keys/mice.  Most anything will work out-of-box these days.

Also, depending on what you are planning it to be used for and what sorts of things you are doing with the mouse, you could also look at a keyboard with a built-in trackpad or optical ball of some sort.  That way you only have a keyboard to lose, rather than keyboard and mouse.  It would suck for gaming (much better to use a separate keyboard and mouse for FPS and etc, or to use a wireless gamepad), but would condense things if you don't necessarily need a full-fledged mouse.  For example, I have a kitchen computer that has a compact keyboard with a ball in the corner for the mouse.  Saves me space that way, and works OK since I'm just using it for recipes, web, mythtv frontend.
