eth0 not coming up at boot [Solved]

I'm having a problem with my eth0 connection, it loads the module at boot but doesn't invoke ifconfig eht0 up; than dhcpcd eth0... pretty sure it's something to do with my hardware cause i've had other problems in other distros but nobody seems to help me  :?.  Does the kernel have trouble with the sis900 or something; that is what i have.

Other than that I'm really starting to like Arch.  Haven't used Windows XP for a couple days now.  i think i did once for about 20 mins since i had to find a picture cause i can't seem to find where to mount that partition(it's fat32).  Any recommendations for a file manager, i don't seem to like Rox or the one that comes with XFCE.

Re: eth0 not coming up at boot [Solved]

Hello,

I have arch running on 2 k7s5a boards with sis900.  I just added it to the rc.conf module line.

Make sure you have network in the daemons and put a nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf.

Ok i fixed it thanks for your help.  Not sure what was wrong.. either i had it in the modprobe.conf which was messing it up or it was a that the /etc/hosts was blank.   Not sure but it's fixed now. Any recommendations for a file manager? lol

If you're looking for a lightweight GUI filemanager, try Gentoo. Yeah, it's also a program! wink
