i successfully setup arch on my laptop for a test run, was happy with what i saw and decided to install it onto a new hdd for my desktop. However after many reinstallations i constantly get this error at bootup:
root (hd2,1)
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x5
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/discs/disc2/part2 ro
Error 17: cannot mount selected partition
anyone has any idea how to solve this?

You switched from devfs to usev, change /dev/discs/disc2/part2 to /dev/hdc2 or something like that.

ok, i booted up arch, but i had to edit and use the grub on my main MBR on my first hdd. to do it. i have 3 hdd drives, when i installed arch i installed the bootloader to my 3rd hdd MBR. But even though the lines in grub are exactly the same for the bootloader in my first hdd MBR and the 3rd hdd MBR, i cant boot up arch from my third hdd MBR. anyone knows how to solve this?

boot arch, install mbr to the first drive.

i could do that, but isnt there anyway to boot arch from the MBR of the 3rd drive instead? by making bios boot from the 3rd drive
