LXDE: Battery Monitor reports crazy rates of (dis)charge

Hi,

As soon as I unplug the main power, the battery seemingly discharges down to 10% in a few minutes; when plugged, it recharges back just as fast. Hardware battery LED does not agree: it behaves as usual, suggesting normal battery. Does this sound familiar?

What does "acpitool -B" tell you?

Philosophy is looking for a black cat in a dark room. Metaphysics is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there. Religion is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there and shouting "I found it!". Science is looking for a black cat in a dark room with a flashlight.
