Hi, recently I started experiencing problems when I try to drag anything(Firefox tabs, gmpc playlist songs) while xcompmgr is running, The whole screen flickers. I tried reverting back to catalyst 10.9 and xorg 1.8(xcompmgr used to work fine at some point I dont know how it broke.) but it did not help, these are the error messages i get when I run xcompmgr in console and try to drag something
error 9: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) request 159 minor 1 serial 2443
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 20 minor 0 serial 2444
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 15 minor 0 serial 2445
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 2 minor 0 serial 2446
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 20 minor 0 serial 2447
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 2 minor 0 serial 2448
error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 20 minor 0 serial 2449

I have had the same problem for the past two weeks and may have found a temporary fix for this that seems to work on my machine.
It's not ideal as I have been unable to trace the root of the problem but by running xcompmgr from the terminal, while xcompmgr is already running I get the message that 'Another composite manager is already running'. After that it appears to become more stable and I can drag and drop without the crash.
If anyone can shed any more light on this I would be interested to know what a more permanent fix might be.
The error I had been getting with random serial numbers was:
error 3 request 2 minor 0 serial 2359
error 3 request 20 minor 0 serial 2360
Segmentation fault

As far as i know xcompmgr is no longer developed. Is normal that the bugs start to appear without any fix. You have as an alternative cairo-compmgr that works great and do everything xcompmgr do.

If anyone is still getting this error installing dcompmgr-git from archlinuxfr repo has resolved this glitch for me.

Still having this issue with xcompmgr, xcompmgr-git and xcompmgr-dana on my setup (pekwm+rox-pinboard+bmpanel2). Running xcompmgr for yaers without big issues... Dcompmgr works fine (do not forget to edit the pkgbuild to enable the minimalistic shadows)... Is there any way to "blur" the shadows? Cairo-compmgr has troubles drawing a shadow under my windows (some menu's have..) and lots of other problems with more plugins.
I still prefer the good old xcompmgr, hopefully this bug can be fixed somehow...
P.S. what ever happend to the kcompmgr fork?
