kde doesn't show cd

Hey everyone!
I installed a fresh Arch with KDE on my new laptop and now KDE doesn't show, when a CD gets inserted. I can mount the CD via console and all works fine, but I can't mount it via KDE, because it doesn't show up the notification. USB devices working fine. Has someone an idea?

Best regards!

Re: kde doesn't show cd

Find a similar file to /etc/hal/fdi/information/media-check-disable-storage_model_DVDRAM_GT31N.fdi and edit it. Change

<merge key="storage.media_check_enabled" type="bool">false</merge>

to

<merge key="storage.media_check_enabled" type="bool">true</merge>

That's quite a different "problem": you can't mount a blank medium, because there's no filesystem on it. Just leave it to the app you use to burn the CD/DVD.

OK, I know that, but before KDE informed me there's blanks CD, and asked what I want to do... OK, it's not similar...I think this is KDE realated problem... Thanks

Re: kde doesn't show cd

Sorry that I have to use this thread after this long time... After a long time of not using my dvd/blueray device, today I tried to burn an image with k3b. First I erased a cd-rw with k3b and this worked very well. After that I wanted to burn the image but than I get an error. Now I noticed, that KDE doesn't show up, when I insert a cd or dvd. I checked the entries in /etc/hal/fdi/information/media-check-disable-storage_serial_Optiarc_DVDRW_BDROM_BC_5540H_.fdi
and /etc/hal/fdi/information/media-check-disable-storage_model_DVDRWBD_BC_5540H.fdi but both entries are set to true... I don't understand, why it suddenly doesn't work anymore, because a few weeks ago it worked well... Do you have any ideas?

Best regards!

Re: kde doesn't show cd

Ok, I reinstalled k3b with all its dependencies and now KDE shows me the cd. But burning isnt working. I get the following error

Senden der cue Datei nicht möglich
Manchmal hilft es den TAO Modus zu verwenden

If I use the TAO method, I get the following error:

Das Medium ließ sich nicht fixieren
Das Medium könnte immer noch lesbar sein
Versuchen sie bitte den DAO Brennmodu

And this is the long error log:

Re: kde doesn't show cd

Did you try the two tipps above? KDE now shows my CD and I can browse through it, but I can't use K3b and I have no idea why...

Re: kde doesn't show cd

@Dogmeat:many  thanks from me too, I fiddled around with fstab changing to from /dev/cd to /dev/sr0 but the problem was there.
