Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

Doesn't the magic mouse only have a single button, no right-click? And you'd probably want to mark the thread as 'solved'.

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

No, magic mouse has 2 buttons. I'm recompiling the new kernel from scratch using the first link above to enable the scroll (it works by touch, not physical click)...post results later...

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

Yeah,

You need to took the kernel26-git vom aur and compile it. When you get to change the kernel config go to Device Drivers - Hid Drivers - Special Hid Devices and there the Point for the Magic Mouse is take it and compile the kernel and install it.
Also add hid_magicmouse to the autoloaded modules in the /etc/rc.conf after reboot and starting X your magic mouse should work with right/left and center click and also gestures are working quite fine. Scrolling is a little bit slow.
Will take a look what to change its hardcoded to a *.c file in the kernel will take a look after this in the near future will post an update if i can find anything.

greetings

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

I got to try out the Apple Magic Mouse for the first time, and it's actually pretty cool. It  connects to the Mac with Bluetooth and the Bluetooth in browser and works really well, so that couldn't be a limiting factor.Anyway, since Archlinux is a rolling distros there will be many updates daily. The main updates will have a description of the package but the AUR will not have a description. The reason being is the AUR packages have multiple versions of the same package. You will also notice there will be no security updates. The reason being is that Archlinux does not patch source packages except in rare cases and only if it is a security issue.

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

Sorry for reviving an old thread, this one just seems like the right place to say/ask this:

The Magic Mouse works out of the box with kernel 2.6.36-ARCH (86_64) and the latest xf86-input packages (+ bluetooth packages required to connect it). Scrolling works, both horizontally and vertically, and it seems to have 3 buttons (!). The only thing I haven't gotten to work are the multitouch gestures. I really like the left and right two-finger swiping in OS X, is it possible to get to work in Arch? I have been googling it a bit, but haven't found much info. Is it something that needs to be enabled in the browser? (I'm using Chromium)
Oh, and it would be nice to have "kinetic"-scrolling or whatever it's called also.

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

Well, today I digged a little bit more and solved the problem. I only needed to unplug the other mouse, reboot and the magic mouse automagically appear in gnome when I launched bluetooth service. The problem was maybe the weak battery that I replaced by new ones.

Wheel scrolling is a bit low, maybe I could fix this problem?

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

Anyone could explain better the pairing mechanism? It looks like I have to use a password 0000 or somethin. I cannot manage to make the magic mouse work here.

Re: Apple Magic Mouse on Archlinux

I know it's quite some months since last post, but I had the same issue trying to connect to a magic mouse.
As a workaround I install 'blueman', and then running blueman-assistant I was able to pair to the mouse, sending '0000' as password.
Hope it helps anyone having this issue. Ther might be a way to send the key through commandline but I didn't bother (yet) to look for it.
