Re: mpd not working without internet connection

Did you set up mpd using your the loopback device (127.0.0.1 or localhost) or the local IP address of your computer (192.168.0.2 or some variant).

I have

bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"

in /etc/mpd.conf. Is it enough?

Check the guide. Always check the guide. It says that it's best to leave that commented out. You talk to mpd with your client, which is set up with localhost.

Re: mpd not working without internet connection

to be honest - it seems more like your whole network is down, which is NOT the same as no internet connection smile

you have 2 solutions for this:
a) start network before starting mpd (this does not include being online automatically, but this depends highly on your setup)

b) use a unix socket connection instead:

bind_to_address "path/to/socket"

mpd will automatically create this socket for you on 1st run. of course your client also needs to this socket instead of the usual IP.
In case of ncmpcpp this speeds up the media library a lot as a sideeffect.

Re: mpd not working without internet connection

are you sure user mpd has full access to dragons home directory?
i personally let mpd run as my own user instead.
