Hi, i've an asrock nettop ion 330 which provides vga and hdmi output, it is connected to a TV via hdmi.
If it is powered on before the tv, i can't see bios post messages nor kernel messages, nor any tty (works if i switch the tv on before the nettop)
When Xorg takes control, it correctly initializes hdmi output, but even switching to a tty leads to a black screen.
I suspect that it defaults to vga at boot if it can't see any hdmi device connected.
Is it possible force linux to output to the hdmi output even if it wasn't seen by the bios?
Something make me think that it should be possible, because if i turn on the tv, then turn on the box and then hibernate it, when it resumes it still outputs to hdmi (ttys+xorg) even if the tv was switched off at resume time.
Thanks

Which driver?
With KMS drivers you can force outputs on/off or force resolutions with 'video=' in the kernel line.
For example
video=HDMI-1:e video=LVDS-1:d
or
video=HDMI-1:1920x1080@60
With the nvidia driver you're probably out of luck.

You're right, i forgot to mention that i'm using the binary blob; it's an htpc i use just to watch videos through vdpau.
It is a plain text mode console.

Probably I am simply stating the obvious, but have you seen your BIOS options? There might be an option on which is the default output
I also suggest you search nvidia's readme and installation guide.

Yep, no options in the bios to specify the default output, nor i think it is an nvidia driver issue (it is not even loaded)
