Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Hi again,

I've got ArchPPC working on Powermac G5 but when I pacman anything I get: error ... (package architecture is not valid)

My mirror list is set to use: ftp://ftp.archlinuxppc.org/mirrorlist/os/ppc

I've tried uncommenting others but all have the same result when running : pacman -Sy sudo

The box is 64bit if that makes any difference?

Cheers

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

What do you have set in /etc/pacman.conf for the Architecture option?

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Its set to auto which equates to ppc64. I assume that's right since that the system I'm on?

Or maybe the 64 is messing it up?

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Is that repo for ppc64?   I thought they only had ppc packages?

We only support a 32bit userland but kernels are available for various 64bit machines.

So remove Architecture=auto if you are using a different kernel architecture than userland architecture.

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Cheers Allan. Changed Architecture to ppc rather than ppc64 and all's well now

Many Thanks

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Just as an FYI, you will possibly need to use "--arch ppc64" when you install your 64 bit kernel

Re: Pacman on PPC [SOLVED]

Hi, the kernel is 64 bit but userspace is 32 bit.
