I've use a windows apps to make my i686 floppies. Your command looks OK. I've checked the man pages and I remember seeing it somewhere.

I've tried to use the floppies on my laptop but it seems tulip is from 2002, so i think it is safe to assume a lot of the pkgs are a little out of date. Is pcmcia included on the floppies as well? i don't recall off of the top of my head, but i don't think so. I will look again when i get home. When I have the time i may try to make a more updated set of floppies, but if anyone else wants to, go for it.

If you have a CD drive for the machine you want the floppies for, the i586 ISO at http://archlinux.veloxis.de/i586/ is somewhat newer and less ornery than the floppies on the archlinux server. I have 5 machines installed off of that (by moving one CD drive from one to the next), and they for the most part installed with no trouble.
