Printing to router with print-server (FWG114p) SOLVED

I hava e printer connected directly to the router Netgear fwg114p.

The printer is a HP laserjet 1010.

The printer works all right when using windows (sic) and when I check the port that windows (xp) is printing to it is:

192.168.0.11
port:
USB 1

In windows one uses a special program in order to install that port on the computer but I guess it should be possible to print to it in linux too?

Any ideas how to set up the printer in CUPS?

ps. When I connect the printer directly to the computer it works all right with hpijs and foomatic and hp jetdirect

Re: Printing to router with print-server (FWG114p) SOLVED

Just so easy - but I have tried for more than a year without managing. The netgear support says nothing. sad

There are a user-forum at netgear and among all the posts there were 1 that was useful. This solution comes from his/her advice.

This is the solution:
(my router has an ip-adress of 192.168.0.11)

Through web-interface to cups (localhost:631) modify printer

Choose LPD/LPR

lpd://192.168.0.11/p1
for my printer (HP laserjet1010) hpijs/foomatic works fine.

And thats it!   lol

Now I finally got my network printer I longed for! And CUPS works on all computers in the network.
