I have recently taken Ubuntu Server off of my DELL PowerEdge 2500 (PE2500), and decided to put Arch Linux on it...
I have encountered a problem upon booting the install CD.
Everything goes all well and fine until it gets to INIT: version 2.86 booting, then it starts to hang, and eventually you'll see this error.
and then you get this error... http://i51.tinypic.com/123mliq.jpg
was much easier to put in a picture, than write every little bit down.
Now, I have a RAID5 running on this server, 3 36GB SCSI drives, coming out to a single volume ~73GB.
RAID controller is PERC 3/Di
Not sure if that has to do with the error, never dealt with server installations except for Ubuntu server on this machine...
Any suggestions?
EDIT: To add more information.

It looks like CD errors to me, unrelated to the PERC. I'd check the cd, the CDROM drive and cable.

I bet you are right about the CD Drive, I did burn another disk when I tried Arch, because I wasn't sure if I had a bad burn or not...
The CD Drive has given me issues in the past, but I figured it was okay because it ran the ClearOS and Ubuntu Server installations fine...
Hope it's not shot though... Don't have another CD Drive for a PE that's SCSI I can replace it with. Lol

Can the machine boot from USB?

Allan -> ArchBang is not supported because it is stupid.

no, it can not.. BUT.. I'm gonna run a PLOP disk to boot to my flash drive to install it... and see if it works.

So far we are having success, I have gotten past where it hangs, will let you know it's solved and mark it as [SOLVED] if everything goes smoothly!

As a follow up, I have news.
After a long battle, I finally have a working server again running Arch!
Using the PLOP disk to my USB drive did the trick, guess my CD drive is defective.
But I'm sitting at a base install now.. should be good to go.
Thanks for the support!
