Weird issue with pulseaudio and gstreamer

I setup pulseaudio for gnome like it says in the wiki, but gstreamer-properties doesn't show the option of using pulse. When I start it says:

gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'pulsesink'
gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'pulsesrc'

But I did install gstreamer0.10-plugins and the plugin definitely is in /usr/lib/gstreamer0.10/libgstpulse.so. Setting it with gconf still makes apps use alsa. the pulse plugin for alsa is working, so I can still use it, but it definitely isn't ideal. mplayer uses pulse just fine.

Any ideas?
