World of Warcraft + Wine = crash

Hello everyone,

I've installed World of Warcraft, latest 4.0.3a from the WoW installer, no problems there. I've run winecfg and setup the sound and video. I also tried the outdated suggestion on the wiki about adding a registry. Same situation.

What happens:

Once the cinematic is over (either I cancel it or it goes to the end), WoW crashes with the infamous Error #132. Now, this usually relates to video or bad drivers, however, WoW has been run on my hardware.

I have Thinkpad X60, with Intel GMA 950. I run with KMS enabled, latest default Arch kernel. The error is:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception

followed by a memory reference.

Again, the launcher worked fine, the cinematic starts, and after that it crashes.

Any ideas from here?

Honestly, i've never got the game to work from the launcher.  I just do the updates manually, stick them in the folder, and execute them.  Then just run the game directly.  You can find the updates on the wowwiki.

Mind if I chip in? My wives PC pulls something like that as well, and it started after I updated the nvidia-driver this morning (to nvidia-270.41.03-1). Reeinstalling would not do anything, that much I can tell: I created a new wine-prefix, used the blizzard downloader to install to a point where it considers WoW playable, started it and crashed right away - as it always does for me. So, not even any cinematics.

We really need to work this one out

PS: The kernel was of course updated as well, to 2.6.38-ARCH in case that helps.
