Well, I just upgraded two days ago and according to this thread no one else seems to be having this problem: Plasma crashes when I open a window. Any window. It won't reload so long as a window is open. I tried clearing out ~/.kde4, with the only result being a need to customize all my settings again. This has me concerned, since we're already at the RC1 stage. Here's some terminal output, if it helps:
EDIT: I downgraded to 4.5, backed up my ~/.kde4 folder, wiped the original, upgraded again and then copied the folder back to /~. Problem solved.

Anybody else got 4.6 Rc running on Arch? sorry if it's been mentioned in this thread b4, but its a hell of alot of pages to read all through
i'm currently trying some different mirrors and will post back

Look direct on mirror, kde rc1 packages are 4.5.90...Look here for example:

I cannot reproduce the systray bug.
Ktorrent users: libktorrent 1.0.5 has been released and is already in [extra], please force the update to the new version (libktorrent has been removed from [kde-unstable], but libktorrent in [extra] does not have the force flag set). You can back to ktorrent from [extra].

Bash,
I think that strigi-feeder in kdepim beta shouldn't be built. If I'm not mistaken, the strigi-feeder has been created for mobile phone to index mail text content as there's no nepomuk for mobile. But for desktop, nepomuk already take care of the indexing, so each time I login I have an Akonadi error message about strigi-feeder that cannot connect to strigi or something like that... Even when I remove the strigi-feeder agent in the akonadi console, it come back on next login.
I see this in the kdepim-runtime/agents/CMakeLists.txt :
15 if( STRIGI_FOUND AND AKONADI_USE_STRIGI_SEARCH )
16 add_subdirectory( strigifeeder )
17 endif( STRIGI_FOUND AND AKONADI_USE_STRIGI_SEARCH )
So, AKONADI_USE_STRIGI_SEARCH is a switch to not built the strigifeeder, isn't it ?

is the message you're seeing this?
Strigi Indexing Agent Has Been Disabled
The Strigi service is not available or fully operational and attempts to rectify this have failed. Therefore indexing of all data stored in the Akonadi PIM service has been disabled, which will severely limit the capabilities of any application using this data.
The following problems were detected:
Strigi daemon is not running.
Additional help can be found here: userbase.kde.org/Akonadi

@ chromatic
you are right, but the strigi-feeder module is not built in the current PKGBUILD and the AKONADI_USE_STRIGI_SEARCH value is set to OFF.

Now, this is a strange bug.
Kmix behaves strange when using localization. Namely, it won't show any sliders on system reboot, like this:
However, when I start it with LANG=en kmix, everything works just fine:
So I have to remove kmix config files every time to make it use localization properly:
I don't know if it's a kmix or localization bug, but it really irritates me.
It think the same goes for systray icons. Does anyone have the same problem?
UPDATE: Bah, it's a localization bug. Reporting to translation team right now.

can anyone compile the 4.5.90 workspace? i'm trying to apply a compositing patch to the 4.5.90 pkgbuild from the kde-unstable repo and the compilation always fails when it tries to compile the calender widget, now i see that i cannot use the calendar/date/time widget in 4.5.90 clean install from the kde-unstable repo! as i used conky so i didnt try to add the widgets previously.

Ok, thanks.
But I have a strigi-feeder agent in the akonadi console and it says that it is not operational. I've built strigi from git recently maybe the problem come from there...

I can also see a strigi feeder in the akonadi console, although the status is "Ready to index data". I used all the stock packages. So I tend to believe that the strigi-feeder is somehow built in the package.
@bash, can you also see it in the akonadi console?

The patch is already commited, just little patience, in January 5 rc2 will be released.

I couldn't see the folderview plasmoid (or the "plasma" package, as it's called in extra) under [kde-unstable]. I think I heard a rumor some time ago that folderview wasn't intended to be a part of the default KDE SC; have they done away with it?

It's still here in 4.5.90. :
pacman -Ql kdebase-plasma
kdebase-plasma /usr/
kdebase-plasma /usr/lib/
kdebase-plasma /usr/lib/kde4/
kdebase-plasma /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_folderview.so
kdebase-plasma /usr/share/
kdebase-plasma /usr/share/kde4/
kdebase-plasma /usr/share/kde4/services/
kdebase-plasma /usr/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-folderview.desktop

Do you mean the plasmoid for displaying the contents of a folder on the desktop? I think it's bundled together with plasma.
Otherwise, there's also the quickaccess plasmoid.
