I type
xinit /usr/bin/enlightenment_start
and the moment it starts, if I'm lucky it tells me
This is very bad. Enlightenment SIGABRT'D.
Otherwise it just freezes.
It asks me if I want to recover or exit. If I recover, it will sometimes ask me again, recover or exit. After recovering for the second time it turns off all its "modules" and gives me a module selection menu. When navigating some menus it will crash at certain times, for example, if I hover my cursor over "send to desktop ->" for a window.
In the meantime, xfce runs flawlessly, so it can't be an x11 error.
I don't know if there's an appropriate log file to post, I couldn't find any.
I know e17 is pre-alpha, but people say it's very stable regardless.

I'm having the same problem after last update.

Do you installed and add to module in rc.conf dbus? Beause E17 continue to use it whereas kde openbox and gnome no more use it.

Ah, the wonders of rolling release...

What? Dbus is not going anywhere, it's hal that is deprecated.

I too am having this problem, but only on a P4 machine that has to run the lts kernel. No such problem on my x86_64 box with kernel26-2.6.36.2-1. No problem running openbox on the P4.

Same problem here. Pretty annoying.

Same problem here. It used to work fine for me, though I've been using lxde and xfce for a while, and had not gone into E17 for a while. Does anyone know of a log file to post?
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Have any of you filed a bug report with Arch? Most Arch devs don't come into the forums, so posting 'me too' threads is not helpful.

I run Arch on a desktop and enlightenment works fine after the update. However, Arch with enlightenment on my laptop (thinkpad x200) will choke on stratup. I Tried several things, to no avail.

Last update broke something. I have this problem too. It worked like a charm before update

What do you mean by "choke". Do you mean it hangs when starting Enlightenment or that it boots up slower? Are people using Enlightenment DR16 also having this problem? Is it a problem with the e17 desktop shell, or just a problem with the window manager
EDIT: it is working for me after the last update

Done. Vote for it if you're having this problem.
