Can't Drag and Drop from to Desktop

Would anyone know why I can't for example drag and drop a picture from my browser to my desktop or my email program for that matter.  The highlight square shows up on the desktop but the picture doesn't go there when I release the button.

Thx

Re: Can't Drag and Drop from to Desktop

I am also having the same problem.  I'm using Firefox 3.6 with Xfce4.  I used to be able to drag pictures right from firefox into a folder in Thunar, and the picture would save there.  More importantly, I also used to be able to drag the little website icon to the left of the web address in firefox to my "Web Links" folder in Thunar and it would save there.  But that doesn't work anymore.  I don't like using firefox's bookmarks.

Does anyone know why this won't work anymore? sad

Does no one else have this problem?  Why isn't firefox integrated with xfce4 anymore?

Re: Can't Drag and Drop from to Desktop

I've tried setting my environment variable from the article that Misfit138 mentioned.

I set it as:

export DE=XFCE

I put that in both my ~/.bashrc and my ~/.xinitrc

But I still can't drag pictures from Firefox into Thunar and have them save there.  Is anyone else still have this problem?  Or does anyone else know the solution?
