both internal and Headset mics are no more working after updat[SOLVED]

Hi,

today I updated my pc by doing sudo pacman -Syu. It downloaded about 20mb packages (I can not remember them each and individually) und installed them without any apparent problem. Now I wanted to make a call over skype. But my mic is no more working (in the meantime, without knowing this, I restarted my pc after the update. But did not check whether mic was working). I have one built-in mic and one extra mic because of my headset. Before this update, both were working fine (about 8 hours ago).  Toggle audio recording from capture is deactivated automatically for whatever reason once I plug in my headset or when I start skype and try to make test call etc...

1. Can I know which packages where updated today?
2. Please just help me by consulting me, by giving me troubleshouting tipps etc..... :-)

Thanks community.

You don't even say what sound system you're using. Plus its easy to check which packages were updated (hint: /var/log/....). And downgrading should tell you what caused the problem.

In summary, be an Arch-er. Do your own troubleshooting first smile

I kinda like "troubleshouting" and actually do that quite often!

Occasionally, after a system update, I find that the sound is muted, don't know why, just happens.

And do check /var/log/pacman.log

Seems like that there was nothing important updated related to alsa. You guys also see this in sam way?

Could this libogg have messed up everything?

Re: both internal and Headset mics are no more working after updat[SOLVED]

I think I found a reason. But it is still not working. When I open the sound control and activate or enable the "toggle audio recording from capture", it is enabled. Then I open the sound control again and see that this toggle option is deactivated or disabled again by itself. What can be the problem? More importantly, I can not remember whether the mic was working fine when this toggle stuff was deactivated or disabled. It could have also been the case that the mic was working when it was activated.

If you need any more information, I will post it as soon as possible as requested... :-)

thanks.

Re: both internal and Headset mics are no more working after updat[SOLVED]

I found a solution and my mics are now working. The solution was that I opened alsa configuration tool by doing "alsamixer -c o" in terminal and demuted the "digital mic" option. Now the mics are working. But I could also do the same thing by Gnome-Volume-Control. Once I activate it there, it seems to be activated. When I open the Gnome-Volume-Control again to check whether the configuration was also saved, it shows me that digital mic option was muted automatically.

I found a thread for this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1024845

Do you know how this problem can be fixed? I think this is no mor arch related, but worth to ask here?! :-)
