Cannot login in tty nor in a glm

Hi people. Yesterday I turned off my computer as I normally do. Today, when I turned it on, I couldn't login in kdm, so I went to tty1 and tried to login there, but when I put my password, agetty ask me for the login name again. So I thought I should log in to root to change my password, but guess what! I could not login as root either.

What should I do? This is a very weird problem, I have no clue on how to proceed.

PS: Arch 32, packages up to date and a lot of free space in the partition.

Re: Cannot login in tty nor in a glm

Did you make any changes at all before you shutdown yesterday (e.g. to the keyboard layout)?

If you have forgotten your passwords you'll need to boot into single user mode or from a live CD to reset them.

edit: There's a password recovery guide in the Wiki.

I already tried booting in single user mode, but the init process just follows as multi user. I didn't change any keyboard layout and I haven't forget any password.

Anyway, I will follow the procedure of booting from a live CD and change the password.
