Planning to create Bluetooth remote control

Hello,

I have been fascinated by a bluetooth remote control since I had my first bluetooth enabled phone: Sony Ericsson T610i. I remember finding an application that enabled music/media control on my PC through a basic menu.

I now have a HTC Touch Diamond II and would like to create about the same thing, but with a nice graphical interface and extra functionality like playlist search. It should also be easilly adjusted for different server applications (mpd / amarok / mplayer...) and if it's possible: different phones (touch-screen / non-touch screen / resolutions).

After a bit of research I decided I should go with Java (J2ME) for the phone (client) and python for the computer (server).

I now have several problems:
1. This is my first project
2. It's been 3 years since I programmed in J2EE and have never programmed for J2ME
3. I have only a basic understanding of the communications over Bluetooth
4. I have never touched Python but I know it has great capabilities (and a wrapper for bluez)

I have programmed server-client applications on J2EE so I have an understanding of this.

Hints and/or tips anyone?
Someone who would like to help on this project?
Does it already exist?

Thanks in advance!
