Hi,
Inserting a USB stick makes no impression any more. lsusb, fdisk -l won't show anything; no /dev/sdb* devices. On another box with an identical installation everything is OK. Where am I supposed to look?

What does dmesg show?

dmesg shows a great deal. What to grep for?

Just the tail immediately after you plugin a USB device - you will see if it is registered or not.

O, yes. A lot of
hub 1-0:1-0: connect-debounce failed, port 8 disabled
What does it mean?

I've been using Google; it looks like I've got either hardware (USB controller) or BIOS problem.
So far I tried the following: (1) took off PS/2 adapter of my wireless USB keyboard/mouse; (2) plugged it into a USB port; (3) rebooted. This way I can't enter BIOS. It probably suggests USB controller failure, or does it?
UPD:
BTW, IDE CD drive apparently stopped working, too. Is it suggestive of anything in this context?

It does point toward a hardware failure...
