Hello.
I installed this utorrent package from AUR and attempted to start it from command and got something like this:
~]$ utorrent
utorrent was not found in [/dev/null/applications]
So I fully uninstalled and reinstalled and now doesn't say anything it just hangs. I didn't get any installation errors or anything.
Can anyone please help?

Read the comments, it seems that version 2.2 has some issues. You can try the prebuild binary from archstuff repo http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uno … positories
EDIT: The one from archstuff repo works fine here.

I've tried this. This is the output:
]# pacman -S utorrent

I get the same error whether I say 'Yes' or 'No'. This is still v2.2. Does that matter?

Hmmm. Are you using a 32- or 64-bit system?
Try to download it http://archstuff.vs169092.vserver.de/i6 … pkg.tar.xz and install via 'pacman -U'.

I'm on an old 32-bit. The package installed without a problem. I try to start it after a reboot and get this:
]$ utorrent
The databases in [/dev/null/applications] could not be updated.
Confused.

I get "The databases in [/dev/null/applications] could not be updated." too, but utorrent starts anyway. I don't know how to use it, so I haven't tested it, but I see the app's window opening. Looks fine.
Edit: You can try using the 2.0.x version.

Where do I get the earlier version from?

*Please* read the comments on the AUR page:
you may also want to try to go back to 2.0.x release. change source to http://download.utorrent.com/2.0/utorrent.exe and regenerate md5sums
Offline
I did it, but it didn't work. For regenerating the md5sums I followed this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=857935. I'll try again tomorrow. Any advice? Can I not just install the .exe with wine?

Can I not just install the .exe with wine?
And how will pacman manage that?
But yeah, you can.
What was the problem with version 2.0?

I got this after install again:
]$ utorrent
The databases in [/dev/null/applications] could not be updated.
I've never had to do an install like this before, so I may have made a mistake. To clarify the only things I have to do is change the source of the PKGBUILD and regenerate md5sums?

Install wine and type 'wine utorrent.exe' in the directory with the windows utorrent binary. Does this work?

Please not that utorrent isn't an offiical pacakge and is from AUR, then read the AUR comments if it doesn't work. And there are many good alternatives on linux like deluge

Thanks for all the help. I've opted for a different option. I've installed mktorrent from the repos.
