I logged into KDE as usually but there is really nothing in media:/, not even a hard disk or cd-rom, not to mention my usbstick. I have dbus, hal. Everything was working, until now... Does anybody have any idea what to do?

I turned hal and dbus off and added entries to /etc/fstab manually, it solved the problem.

What version of dbus and hal are you using?
$ pacman -Q dbus hal kdelibs kdebase
dbus 0.23.4-1
hal 0.4.7-1
kdelibs 3.4.0-7
kdebase 3.4.0-5

I have the same exact packages as mdv and it works fine for me. You might want to check dbus and hal aren't backgrounded (with a @) in your DAEMONS() array in rc.conf and they are in that order, hal depends on dbus already running...
