gecko mediaplayer/codecs

Howdy folks. I have been away from arch for a while for different reasons and found windows 7 to be fine for what I wanted when I needed it. I decided to get back to arch and everything seems good apart from a few things. I went for a fresh install to familarize myself with it again but ran into problems.

I have gecko-mediaplayer and codecs (aur) installed but no video at all will play in firefox. It just wont start.
I tried mplayer-plugin to see if the problems they had were sorted while I was away but no, crashed on the very first video.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: gecko mediaplayer/codecs

Don't know if it is related to your problem, but today somewhy firefox did not recognize gecko-mediaplayer plugins.
When I renamed gecko-mediaplayer-*.so to libgeckomediaplayer*.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins then everything worked again.

Check about:plugins if gecko-mediaplayer ones are there and if not then you can try my solution.

Re: gecko mediaplayer/codecs

On my x86_64 machine, the divx plugin of gecko-mediaplayer is seen by firefox without that workaround.
It's all the more weird that it is not always an issue.

Re: gecko mediaplayer/codecs

I can't get gecko-mediaplayer to load either.

I'm in chromium on Arch64
