Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

just to inform that xbmc has now a git repository.. maybe is time for changing the thread's title wink

https://github.com/xbmc

on hercura-testing repo some one has already built the from the -git repo, maybe it would be good if the PKGBUILD used there is posted on the AUR too

Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

The svn is still the development repository. I don't see any reason to switch to git as long as the git repo is a clone of the svn.

The problem with tvheadend solved simply disabling Hardware acceleration (VAAPI) in System - Video - Playback

Well, that is true. I installed xbmc from the community repo and music plays with no issue, but it was missing the crystalhd support. So I tried out the xbmc-svn from AUR, which is using snapshot 35648, and I'm still having the same problem. Music will not play unless I pause and then play. Weird.

Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

I figured you guys might know this one. I've just installed XBMC and am trying to get suspend working. If i set the shutdown action to Quit it works alright, but setting it to Suspend does nothing when XBMC.ShutDown() is called. A normal pm-suspend in a shell works okay.

My user is in the power group and i'm starting XBMC like this:

exec /usr/bin/ck-launch-session /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/xbmc

Any ideas?

You're not the same guy I saw in #xbmc-linux are you? tongue

Yesterday someone asked the exact same question in there, you don't need /usr/bin/dbus-launch.

Nee joh, or was his/her name litemotiv? In that case it would be me without me remembering it...

Hmm, i reckon i tried that already, since it seemed like a strange addition to me as well. But i'm going to give it another whirl, thanks. smile

Yea no dice.

I just tried shutdown and for some reason that just quits XBMC, so something fishy going on there too...

edit: fixed smile

Upower isn't an optdepends?

Yep it is, but the optdepends description makes it look like it's only needed for suspending.

P.s., devicekit-power is also listed as an optdepend for suspend functionality, but that one doesn't seem to be needed.

Hi all!

xbmc-svn is now obsolete: http://xbmc.org/theuni/2011/01/02/xbmc-moves-to-git/.
Added xbmc-git to AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45036.
Please use this package now. Feedback is welcome.

Vlad, on a clean install the installation breaks on:

./bootstrap: line 5: autoreconf: command not found

(might want to add autoconf to deps)

"autoconf" is in base-devel. To use AUR base-devel has to be installed anyway (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AU … ng_started).

Hmm that's strange, i've had that system running for over a year with a lot of AUR packages, but never noticed this before.

Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

Hi! Can someone please alter this thread, so it reflects the git change?
"xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please"

I have a problem with the current build (seems like it's a 64bit issue only)
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/10658#comment:20

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=90609

Hi! Just updated to the latest git version, 20110114-1. Now i'm having constant crashes randomly when I try to play an mkv movie. I've had crashes before on previous svn revisions, but now they are far more frequently.

This time i'm using 60hz while i'm browsing the menus, and 24hz kicks in while i'm watching a movie (xbmc auto refresh rate).

Sadly I have several issues related to xbmc auto refresh rate:

*constant crashes
*if I stop a movie (stop button) xbmc either crashes or freezes with a black screen
*If I execute a move, xbmc either crashes or freezes with a black screen.

I've tried altering x seconds before refresh switch in options but it doesn't help me.

The black/freezing thing doesn't happen if I force xbmc to run in 24hz all the time, but I still get random crashes.

Anyone else on arch forum experiencing someone similar?

Thanks smile

Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

Vlad, I have made an AUR PKGBUILD that builds the stable* crystalhd driver (crystalhd-snapshot) and userspace library (libcrystalhd).

Could you add libcrystalhd as an optdepends (and crystalhd-snapshot as a makedepends, since the library needs to be there during compilation for xbmc to support it). I don't know what the best practice would be, given makepkg won't build those dependencies afaik, but AUR wrappers will.

* stable meaning tagged as such by the developer

Re: xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

I've had hell getting xbmc to run properly with 24p and 60hz on arch64.

I tried to install another 32 bit kernel which failed completly thanks to the awesome "can't find root device" shit message. ** yes i've chrooted and tried to manually build a new initrd, didn't work. ** yes I hate those messages and that message "bailing out, good luck" can kiss my smile (yes i'm aware if there's no root fs, it's pointless)

Anyways i've wiped my entire hdd, re-installed archi686 on my htpcbox.

Installed xbmc-git as usual... only to find another lovely "thing" now... VDPAU isn't working anymore...

^^as you can see, vdpau is indeed working from nvidias firmware on my system.

5 re-installs/googling/irc later.... it's still not working.

Then I found a stable (?) xbmc binary (to my suprise) and vdpau seems to be working.

I can't find anything on xbmc forums about vdpau being broken in their recent revision.

Anyone else?

Right now i'm gonna stick with the stable version (first time for me) and see how it runs on 32bit, if I can get proper 24p/60hz without any issues.

I don't know why you're 'surprised' Xbmc stable is in [community]. It's been there for ages, and Arch had 10.0 very quickly after the official release.

You might want to check in #xbmc-linux on Freenode about VDPAU being broken, but I haven't seen any such reports.

At one time my package manager querys didn't return anything about xbmc other then svn, so I wrongly assumed there was only svn smile

Yeah I haven't heard anything either regarding VDPAU not working on git, kinda odd. But right now it seems like the stable version is working just fine for me.

Well at least xbmc doesn't crash everytime it goes into 24hz like it did 99% on 64 bit big_smile

Thanks
