ettercap crash's (Cannot open etter.finger.mac)

Hay guys

I'v just installed ettercap-gtk

I run it in super user mode. select a sniff mode and it crash's

heres there terminal output

Are you running it with sudo or as the root user? Obviously it's a permissions issue. Also, are you running an x64 system? A simple search on google returns this

I'v tryed running as both root and sudo, it made no dirfence.
Yes I am runing a 64bit system.

I was thinking maybe is i installed the 32bit version.  but I don't know how to do that?

I'm also having the same problem. I installed ettercap into $HOME/.local and I changed the CMakeLists.txt's ${INSTALL_PREFIX} paths to point my $HOME/.local as my system root. (eg:- System configuration directory was pointing /etc I changed it to $HOME/.local/etc).

When ettercap opens 'etter.finger.mac' (it is done by 'open_data()' function defined in src/ec_file.c) it returns 0 file descriptor. I do not know why is this happening.

Can anyone tell me a way of fixing this?

I already disabled SElinux and It did not work. Ran as root.

It has been 7 years, the chance that you are having the same problem are very slim, don't necrobump.

Open a new thread presenting an up to date description of the problem.
