[SOLVED] Firestarter issue

I installed the most recent stable Firestarter source package not too long ago. Firestarter starts, and all appears well, but in terminal it states: "firestarter:8163): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_async_open: assertion `text_uri != NULL' failed"

If I click the Events tab and click refresh icon it displays "Error reading system log (null), file does not exist"

?

EDIT: Further info that may be of help in assessing the issue:

Terminal: "Firewall started
Adding Firestarter startup hook to /etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-eth0.exe
Could not write firestarter hook: No such file or directory
Firewall started

***MEMORY-ERROR***: firestarter[8163]: GSlice: assertion failed: sinfo->n_allocated > 0
"

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

I know it doesn't fix your Firestarter problem but UFW is just as easy and up-to-date.

edit:  by "most recent" you do realise it is 6 years since Firestarter was last developed?

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

I didn't know that actually; I had just used it previously on Ubuntu and it didn't give me any hassles.

I'm giving Gufw a try.

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

I've just looked at the homepage for Firestarter and it looks like there is some activity.  It may be worth contacting the maintainer, fukawi2 about your error.

BTW, UFW is developed for Ubuntu and is their default firewall tool.

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

Alright, I'll consider mailing him later.

As for Gufw, do I need to do anything else after enabling and editing sudoers, such as putting it in daemons under rc.conf?

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

You need to start ufw as a daemon.

Re: [SOLVED] Firestarter issue

Thanks for the help. smile

Lastly, does it matter where I input ufw? I was considering putting it before network.
