No, it`s even faster than without it. But you have to use at least a GeForce-Card with nvidia-drivers and renderaccel activated.

It looks cool and is fast, but it is not that stable.

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Thank you shadowhand.

Cybertron asked me for some guides and i wrote him the following. I think it might be interesting for otheres too.

I have to say that it´s not to hard to make your own good looking fvwm. Because there are as great people as taviso, chwombat and ikaro. have a look on this sites. They are great.
A really good beginners guide for fvwm is this one: http://www.zensites.net/fvwm/guide/
With this guide you learn very fast and very easy the basics about fvwm. And with that guide u can make your own good looking fvwm very easy.

The next interesting link would be this fvwm-forum: http://fvwm.lair.be
Especially the screenshots&config section is very good.

At last look into gentoo´s forum again: http://forums.gentoo.org and search for fvwm.

Have fun.

Here's my current desktop:
Empty
In use

GTK theme is Clearlooks-Edge w/ Edge icons, wallpaper is "The Wave" by Leslie Laurence. (Technically not a wallpaper, but fractals tend to scale and stretch quite nicely.)

The icons can be found here:

And the wallpaper here:

With the wallpaper I used a vertical gradient to get the black to white effect:

The menue entries themself does not have icons.

Thanks neri smile I'm trying to find a lightweight wm that support menu icon and transparency. I know fluxbox can do that but I can't use external toolbar with it. The tray and taskbar is not functioning right with external toolbar.

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

I don't know how I completely miss the wallpaper listing function in fluxbox menu before. Before this, I use my own shell script to generate a wallpaper list for fluxbox menu but apparently this can be done easily by fluxbox.

[wallpapers] (/path/to/your/wallpapers) {wallpaper setter command eg; Esetroot -s}

Hope this can help all fluxbox user here smile

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Hi,

Thanks neri smile I'm trying to find a lightweight wm that support menu icon and transparency. I know fluxbox can do that but I can't use external toolbar with it. The tray and taskbar is not functioning right with external toolbar.

you can have only one tray at one time, and who coms first usually wins.
Since Fluxbox has it's own tray the external will be disabled, I'm not sure
about the taskbar though. Out of curiosity, which external toolbar do you
wanna use?

You might wanna try the experimental waimea-cms from unstable. It's
freedesktop.org's sample window manager and I guess it can handle quite
some fancy stuff. It supports icons and is based on cairo, so I guess
transparency and things can be handled (maybe even gl accelerated via glitz)

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

I never understood why people demand such fancy things out of a window manager..

Openbox is very simple. But sexy. What more could a guy want?
