compiz requires reload on startup

This has been troubling me for a while now...thought it should be time to fix it.

I'm using compiz standalone as WM with Arch64

My trouble is that everytime I start compiz the shortcuts won't work.

For example, CTRL + T won't open a tab on chromium or firefox and I can't change viewports etc etc nothing.

I right click on the "fusion-icon" and click "reload window manager" a few times until I can start using it.

Anybody else ever experienced this?

It also happens in some weird cases.

Say I closed chromium and I have no window open.
All of sudden (as soon as I closed chromium) the shortcuts won't work anymore and I'd need to reload the window manager (gtk).

I'm using a 'start-fusion.sh' file with my programs and "fusion-icon -f" to start compiz.

Any ideas?

What videocard do you have? I own an ATI Radeon HD5750 (currently using privative's Catalyst fglrx module) and I need to run a script with a little hack at [KDE SC] session login to have composite effects enabled, could it be something similar in your case?

My video card is Nvidia geforce 8600 GT.

I believe I already have composite effects enable. So I don't think this is the issue...but thanks for suggesting!

It's really irritating. My second example is happening more often now.

If I close the last window on a viewport the thing will just stop working.

Like I open Thunar, browse then I close...I'd have to restart the "window manager" again.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
