Switching over to some of the more lightweight tiling window managers, I have really missed the dynamic menu's from gnome/xfce/etc. Not needing to configure them after adding/removing programs. I understand there are some script-solutions out there, but I haven't found a sort of generic solution. I am particularly interested in one that I can plug into WMFS's titlebar or on right-click.
What is your solution to this?
For programs used most often, a hot-key or the run-menu/dmenu work great... But what about those you use rarely and don't remember the name of?

I know the problem well, and decided to add a description field to my menus which dmenu can search for as well as program names.
My DeiMenu shows what I mean: each menu entry is of the form:
programname (description...)
Would this help you?

Thanks ninian, it appears that would be good solution for many users. I however even do not want to take the time to add in descriptions.

Have a look at dmenu-launch
