[Solved/Hacked] .txt and .doc default app.

I use Stumpwm and Thunar and I open .txt files with Gvim and .doc files with LibreOffice/OpenOffice.
My problem is: If I set the default application for .txt files to be Gvim, this is also set for .doc files and viceversa.
What I want is to be able to set Gvim the default application for text files and LibreOffice for .doc files.

Have you tried setting mime-types manually, or did you only set them within Thunar?  Check out this wiki article for details.

Re: [Solved/Hacked] .txt and .doc default app.

mimeopen - d file.txt

$ pacman -Qo mimeopen
/usr/bin/vendor_perl/mimeopen is owned by perl-file-mimeinfo 0.15-2

Re: [Solved/Hacked] .txt and .doc default app.

mimeopen -d give me the same result:

mimeopen -d file.doc (I choose libreoffice) but this is also chosen for text files

If I do
mimeopen -d file.txt (I choose Gvim but it is also set as a default application for .doc files)

I cannot get to set mime-types manually
Sorry for my english!!!

Re: [Solved/Hacked] .txt and .doc default app.

I had the same problem a while back. Finally found this informative thread. Seemed to be a bug in Thunar, so I just decided to let it be.
However, it looks like the problem has been fixed in the latest version of Thunar (1.2.0) that came with the Xfce 4.8 update last week, at least on my end. Have you tried updating?
