[SOLVED] Staging Repo

I couldn't find satisfying info about this on the web.

I have come across this repo while browsing a mirror manually. Checked my pacman.conf, and it wasn't mentioned there.

So basically, what is its purpose? If it can be tested, what do I add to pacman.conf, and at which position among other repos?

Re: [SOLVED] Staging Repo

I don't think this is for productive use and not even for testing by users. It looks like the usual staging thing... a place where you can prepare stuff before you release/use it. You should follow the respective mailing list, if you are interested in such things.

Re: [SOLVED] Staging Repo

Staging is exclusively for developers pushing big rebuilds (major so-lib bumps like the openssl one, for example, or the python 2.x -> python 3.x transition). It's there so developers can rebuild their respective packages without the breakage spreading to users of [Testing].

Thanks for the posts. I believe I should leave [staging] on hold for now.

There's no 'for now' about this. Just don't use it.

Once OP becomes a dev, he'll have a legitimate reason :-)

Re: [SOLVED] Staging Repo

before there was staging. devs gave a "do not update warning" in the dev-mailing-list and if you had testing enabled and didnt read it... well...stuff would break in your updated box.
