Hi !
I wanted to play a video in ASCII-art color with VLC.
But there is no libcaca video output in the options.
And when I type vlc --vout caca mymovie.mkv in a terminal, it says
[0x3431bf0] main video output error: video output creation failed
[0x312de50] main decoder error: failed to create video output
Of course, libcaca is installed on my system (it runs well with mplayer, by the way).
So, do you know if VLC is compiled against libcaca ?
Should I use another VLC version ? (I'm using the one from extra).
Thank you very much for the answers,
Nicolas

is not. open a feature request if you like to see it default or use abs to recompile vlc having libcaca installed
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Also, I believe mplayer IS compiled against libcaca.

Yes, ngoonee, -vo caca is running well with mplayer !
I'll try to compile VLC from AUR, then.
