I lost my partition of "/home" with 2010.5 installer

I do very big error to day.

I have this partition in my hard disk:

sda1 - ntfs - winxp - 50gb
sda2 - extX (I dont' remember if 2,3 or 4, maybe 3) - / of archlinux - 15gb
sda3 - extX (I dont' remember if 2,3 or 4, maybe 3) - /home - 125gb
sda4 - extended
sda5 - linux-swap - 2gb

Today, I wanted to re-install archlinux with version 2010.5. In the section to partition the drive, I was wrong, I have told the system that is passed to ext4 sda2 as /, and sda3 to ext4 as /home.

Logically, have deleted the two partitions.

I need to regain the folder structure of sda3.

With photorec, I've only got 80,000 files nonsense. With testdisk nothing.

PD.: Sorry for my english.

Arch is rolling release - there are no "versions", that's just a snapshot if the core repository from may 2010. hmm

pacman -Syu will keep you up to date with the newest packages - no need to ever reinstall.

For recovering the files, you could also try extundelete. testdisk might not have worked because there's a new working partition.

actually, extundelete won't work since the old partition is gone.

I removed the hard disk. I'm using a second hard drive to install a temporary system to work.

Since the accident, has not mounted the partition sda3.

Thanks for the help.

I use about 3 years ago archlinux, and I know how works pacman. I just wanted to try the new installer and make cleaning sda2.

I will try now Extundelete.
