[SOLVED] Audio issues after upgrade (with testing)

Hi,

My system had not been upgraded in a while, mostly because the default mirror was out of sync. I recently did a pacman -Syu and the process was clean and painless.
However, I had enabled the testing repository imagining that I could be of some help to the community big_smile.

So everything for now is functional except the audio on the system.

For example on pidgin (and skype), I had to change the sound system from automatic / default to ALSA to hear the sound notifications.
But I am unable hear other people's voice while voice chatting.
Sound on Rhythmbox does not work, although it looks like it is playing the song (and I have not looked into it further).
mplayer picked up the sound without any work, but vlc, I had to choose ALSA explicitly again, to make the sound work.
Sound in flash players in the browsers just work fine.

Thanks,
Pavan

Check out the alsa wiki. I believe you need to disable snd_pcm_oss at the very least.

Thanks! That fixed it. Although I ended up going to the pulseaudio page too and fix other issues big_smile

Also, How can I mark the topic as solved ? (or is it something that only moderators can do ?)
