Since maybe an update (I'm not sure), gnome-power-manager isn't launched anymore. No battery applet, suspend and hibernation buttons.
acpid, pm-utils are on.
By launching it in terminal, it gives:
~$ gnome-power-manager

So would libupower-glib bug?

pacman -Syu
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

all is up-to-date (except kernel 2.6.35)

try to start /usr/lib/upower/upowerd
does it have errors?

yes there is:
$ ./upowerd start
./upowerd: error while loading shared libraries: libusb-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libusb-1.0.8-1 is installed
What's this daemon for?

did you used pacman -Sf recently on when updating?
pacman -S libusb libusb-compat
the "daemon" is used by gnome-power-manager

Well done. Thanks a lot.
I've reintall libusb and libusb-compat
(I've never used pacman -Sf but maybe deleted some file in conflict by the past - have to find out in log)

I've got a similar problem: Mine is not gnome-power-manager not starting, but gnome-power-manager taking from 60 to 90% of the processor usage.....
Any idea?
