Linux in Italian Schools

"Their conclusion is you do save money with Linux but less than you thought, because the costs and effort for the initial setup cannot be ignored. At the same time, the switch greatly increases productivity and reduces maintenance costs even more. Overall, the school is quite happy to have taken this path."

sad they didn't know about archlinux ... we do not provide "500 Euros worth of manuals" and the "2,000 Euros in consultant fees and 1,100 Euros for an 18-hour internal course for teachers" we would also offer them for less ;-)

that brings up the question if archlinux is registered as a non-profit organisation or something, if so all money has to go into its development or related stuff more or less, right? anyway, the idea would be great for unemployed sysadmins to promote theirselves when they do consulting for free or for a low fee and a part of the income goes to server expenses it would take off some load of judd, wouldn't it?  :?
