Problems with mp3 Audio Playback - Seek Broken

Greetings fellow Archsters,

I've got a pretty straightforward problem I can't find an easy reference doc for.

Namely, whenever I play an mp3 in Amarok, Rhythmbox, or Banshee the seek bar is grayed out and won't follow along as the track plays. On the other hand, VLC and mplayer seek just fine.

Any ideas?

I've a similar problem. The only difference is that amarok works fine, while Listen, Rhythmbox and Banshee all have an inactive seek bar. I'm trying to playback a regular MP3 file. When playing back M4B in Listen a seek bar works as expected though. I've good and bad gstreamer plugins installed and can't seem to find any solution on Google.

I have the same issue. It'd be great if anyone had a solution, but this thread has been quiet for a while so I'm going to post on the banshee forums. xCrucialDudex and FTWynn (if you still have this issue) Do you maybe want to cross reference our package lists and see if we can spot anything that might be interfering?

Or if either of you know anyone else that runs Arch and Banshee successfully, we could compare our set-up with them...

EDIT::: Problem Solved! At least for me, the problem was solved by installing the gstreamer-ugly packages. I guess the gstreamer-ffmpeg package is bad at seeking...

According to the report, it can also be solved by installing mp3parse, but I didn't find a package for that in the AUR based on my brief search. Good luck
