screen flickering when TV-out

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a new laptop (HP G62) where I have managed to put a really perfect arch linux setup on it. My only problem is with the TV out through HDMI. I have seen some posts of people with ATI or Nvidia cards and sound problems, but this is not my case.

My graphic card is integrated intel chip on the i5 core series. When I plug the HDMI cable into the TV, unlike ATI or Nvidia, I have no problem with sound (Strangely enough, rather than just "transfering" all the sound output from the laptop to the TV, what this setup requires is that I select manually the sound output on every program I use... I guess it will improve in the future).

Anyways, I don't want to distract you, that's not really my problem. My problem is that every time I attach the cable, the TV screen flickers terribly. With my initial windows install it didn't happen, everything went smoothly, but with arch, not only I cannot set the resolution as high as with windows... it becomes just unwatchable with that terrible flickering... I have tried every single intel driver available, the normal one, the one from testing, the git and newest one from AUR... none of them have provided flicker free experience.

My biggest fear: I downloaded another live distro (geexbox) and the problem is exactly the same, which makes me thing that this is either an intel driver problem (Which I would doubt, but who knows...) or a hardware problem...

I would be very grateful if someone could help me to find out what's wrong. My wife is already teasing me with windows being much better than arch, because at least it can handle hdmi :-))

Thank you very much in advance
Ruben
