Re: pcmanfm issue

For the trash, make sure you have gvfs installed. Also does anything change if you launch "dbus-launch pcmanfm"?

Re: pcmanfm issue

How are you starting your WM or DE? I think you need consolekit installed and in .xinitrc use:

exec ck-launch-session yourwmhere

Re: pcmanfm issue

MystKid - the problems you are experiencing are all well documented. Going on your above post, you either didn't read the wiki page sufficiently carefully, or you really do not have enough experience and familiarity with Linux to be using Arch.

Re: pcmanfm issue

You aren't actually starting anything...

Pastebin your .xinitrc, your rc.conf and the output of pacman -Qm

Re: pcmanfm issue

Of course it did the trick - it is taken directly from the Wiki;

exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session <WM>

You will solve your authentication issues exactly the same way.

Re: pcmanfm issue

I mean follow the steps in the wiki.

Your situation is not unique: what you are trying to do has already been accomplished many, many times by other users. Some of those users have been considerate enough to document what they have learned on the wiki - you might repay that consideration by following the steps that they have set out.

As I said above, you should rethink the reasons that you have Arch installed.

Re: pcmanfm issue

It's not a problem, but Arch doesn't hold your hand:

The Arch Way wrote:

Arch Linux targets and accommodates competent GNU/Linux users by giving them complete control and responsibility over the system.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Th … er-centric

Note the responsibility. This thread demonstrates that you are looking to avoid that responsibility and ask others to solve your problems. Problems that, as I have pointed out, are well documented.

If you want to learn, then we will encourage and support that. Just don't make the mistake of equating learning with spoonfeeding, that is help vampirism and it is not acceptable behaviour here.
