Can't set screen refresh rate higher than 60Hz (open ATI driver)

Hello guys
First Arch install for me, so far, so good!

Well, not that good :-)

I'm using the open-source ATI driver, and I don't have the option to set my screen refresh rate to its native 75Hz...
The resolution is ok (1980x1080), but I have a "black box" around the desktop -

I'm using GNOME Monitor Preferences - maybe there's another way to change this?

Oh: The monitor is hooked up with HDMI and the video card is a Radeon HD4200

Thanks!

You could try setting the mode directly via KMS:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KMS#Forcing_modes

It's likely that your card just can't do 1920x1080@75Hz though.

Are you sure about the resolution being 1980x1080? I don't know your monitor but I would think that the normal HD resolution is 1920x1080, and that may be the reason why you see black areas around the desktop.

You know what?
You both right!

I think my mind froze yesterday...  - and it was late and I was tired  - and ... :-)

I indeed set the wrong resolution, and on top of that my screen is perfectly ok with a 60Hz refresh rate....

My bad - and thanks to you both!
