Xfce 4.8 and URGENT windows

After updating to 4.8 I found following problems with windows flagged as URGENT:
1. Window stops blinking when I click anywhere (even inside other application's window).
2. Urgent windows from other desktops are not shown in the "Window Buttons" taskbar.

In "Window Manager Tweaks" settings following checkboxes are set:
"Notify of urgency by making window's decoration blink"
"Keep urgent windows blinking repeatedly"

Re: Xfce 4.8 and URGENT windows

right click in the window buttons in the taskbar. click properties and then check "show windows from all workspaces or viewports" i hope that helps. Dont know what to do about the windows stopping blinking, though.

But this solution will show me all windows (not URGENT as well), while I wan to see only urgent windows.

It also seems that option "Keep urgent windows blinking repeatedly" does not work - window always blinks 8 times, no matter if this option is selected or not.

Re: Xfce 4.8 and URGENT windows

I have the same issue with this behavior, and haven't found out how to change it either.

This is actually pretty frustrating, as it means if I'm browsing the web or anything other than paying-explicit-attention to pidgin, and I happen to not be looking at my panel for over ~20 seconds due to distraction with a site or possibly not-being-at-my-computer, I won't know that someone's trying to talk to me.

Couple that with the whole 'automatic sorting of panel window icons only' ('taskbar' type stuff) - not being able to rearrange panel windows?  Feels like I'm back on Microsoft - less flexibility is never what Xfce has felt like in the past.

I'm hoping these are either PEBKAC issues or a factor of an x.x.0 (4.8.0) release.

I have a new PC and I thought I would even give Gnome a shot. When I saw that I can't have my panel span two monitors, I said forget it.

On Xfce 4.8.0 however, while I get the panel and thus my Window Buttons section spanning two monitors, I can no longer move the buttons around. That was really an important thing--if I could fix the location of one, I can access it much faster. But now I can't do that. sad

I just wanted to say that misery loves company and I'm with you, pal. sad

Re: Xfce 4.8 and URGENT windows

I forgot to mention that Xfce appears to no longer group windows if there's no space, like it did before. I'm 99.9% certain these are all pure Xfce issues and have nothing to do with Arch, but anyhow, at least we can feel better that we're all missing the same old functions...

Or someone can correct me if I'm wrong! smile

Re: Xfce 4.8 and URGENT windows

Recently I installed XFCE on my home PC and on this system window remains in urgent state.
However when it is on different workspace - is not shown on current.

To resolve the problem I moved back to Gnome (as I was previously using Gnome and gave XFCE only a try).

If someone is interested in solution, I found apropriate ticket in XFCE bugzilla:
http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6150.
