Hey everybody,
I'm for an embedded system I would like to configure/compile a new kernel. I've downloaded the approriate kernel version and issued the command with the following result
# make ARCH=arm gconfig
*
* Unable to find the GTK+ installation. Please make sure that
* the GTK+ 2.0 development package is correctly installed...
* You need gtk+-2.0, glib-2.0 and libglade-2.0.
*
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `scripts/kconfig/.tmp_gtkcheck', needed by `scripts/kconfig/gconf.o'. Stop.
make: *** [gconfig] Error 2
IMHO the needed packages are installed:
extra/gtk2 2.22.1-1 [installed]
core/glib2 2.26.1-1 [installed]
extra/glade 3.6.7-1 [installed]
extra/glade-perl 1.007-3 [installed]
extra/libglade 2.6.4-2 [installed]
extra/libglademm 2.6.7-1 [installed]
I couldn't find any other development specific packages.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm quiet new to Arch Linux and totally new to this forum. I've already searched the forum and wiki but didn't find the solution yet. Maby someone has a hint for me?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Best Regards,
Mike

Thx for the fast response. I tried that out, but I still get the same error message :-(

why aren't you using menuconfig or nconfig?

Menuconfig isn't any less functional than gconfig or xconfig. Why do you need to rebuild your kernel?

Well, I'm building a kernel for an embedded system, not for my main PC. I was just used to use gconfig the time I had installed debian/ubuntu. Of course, there is nothing really wrong with menuconfig or the other flavors. It's just a matter of taste... i like the interface of gconfig more than the other. I was wondering, why it didn't work on my Arch installation, eventhough it seems that the needed packages are installed.
However, I now used menuconfig to go on, since I want to deliver on time. It would be nice to get gconfig working, anyway - would give my ego a good feeling

Please pay attention to the dates, it's unlikely they still look for a solution 10 years later.
Closing.
