X garbles with some graphics

Hi all - below is a link to a video of a problem I've been having with my X display. When certain graphics are displayed, the screen will get garbled. When I shot the video, I thought it might have been a firefox issue, but I've ruled that out, as it happens when viewing the same graphic in GPicview. I have an HP DV4 1140go.

I've just had a similar issue while viewing htop and powertop.

I have an old 82845G card, and I'm using xf86-video-intel 2.14.0-1.

The upgrade is the culprit:

Hmm - seems that the upgrade was the solution for me. I upgraded xf86-video-intel from 2.13.0-4 to 2.14.0-1 as you showed and it seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks for the reply!

Well, no. In my case, 2.14.0-1 brings problems:

[ 16473.149] (EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.

I had to downgrade, but it really depends on what card you have. Mine apparently doesn't like the new drivers.

Huh.  Makes me curious how the drivers are compiled - are they compiled with the same flags each time within the same environment? Also - are you running 32bit or 64bit? The system I have this on is running 32bit.

I am running 32bit Arch. My card is old and no longer supported most of the time although sometimes some version of the drivers does work.
