First and foremost, what's your graphic card? Perhaps KMS would be a better option.

Well i have two gtx 460's. KMS is an intel only kinda deal right??

Nope, KMS works with almost all open source video drivers, including nouveau.
If you're using the proprietary nvidia driver then KMS is not supported afaik.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)

yea, im not using nouveau, but thanks anyways

GTX460 doesn't have all resolutions in it's vbios? Ouch! Well, take the highest there is then, 1280x800.
As Lone_Wolf says, nouveau has KMS. But with two gtx460s, I doubt you're interested in nouveau . Then again, with two gtx460s, why are you interested in the console?

well when my system is booting, i like to see what is going on, so a graphical boot is less then ideal. And about the 1280x800 resolution, what do I put after "vga="

ok i got it its "vga=0x0361"
Marked as solved
