I'd like to test out the new Digikam2 betas, given the impressive number of new features and the testing needed, but building them is, at least for me, a tricky issue. There are currently no PKGBUILDs for this on the AUR.
You need libkmap and libkface, and libkexiv and libkdcraw in a newer version than the one in kdegraphics...
All these libraries are bundled in the beta tarballs, but with SVN it might be more difficult.
I don't know how to avoid conflict between the bundled libraries and the system ones, I don't even know if there is anything that actually needs to be done (still, this needs to be taken care of, sooner or later).
The easyest thing might be to use the tarballs, not SVN.
Here you can find the release announcements for the first and the latest betas:

digikam-git does not build for me, complaining about missing fields in libkdcraw:
drawdecoding.cpp:229:5: error: ‘const class KDcrawIface::RawDecodingSettings’ has no member named ‘NRType’
drawdecoding.cpp:229:5: error: ‘class KDcrawIface::RawDecodingSettings’ has no member named ‘NRType’
and many more!
It appears to me that it needs a newer version of libkdcraw than the one currently in kdegraphics-libs.

@skarn: I'll investigate this as soon as possible.

Sorry, corrected the thread title, or should it now be: "digikam-git does not build"?
