Hello,
I have used Arch for some time, but have just started using conky. I use dwm and want my conky text to have two different colors, but the text color doesn't change from the color I have set dwm to use for the normal foreground color (color of unselected tag names in dwm's bar), when I use
default_color white
or
${color white}
in my .conkyrc.
My .conkyrc:
background no
out_to_console yes
update_interval 2
total_run_times 0
use_spacer none
default_color white
TEXT
[$mpd_smart] [CPU ${cpu cpu1}% ${cpu cpu2}% AVG ${loadavg}] [TEMP ${acpitemp}C] [MEM $memperc%] [MAIL ${execpi 300 python ~/.scripts/gmail.py}] [ETH ${downspeed eth0}/s ${upspeed eth0}/s] [${time %a %b %d %I:%M%p}]
It seems that dwm overrules my .conkyrc or I have made a mistake in configuration.
Best regards

The statusbar in dwm doesn't support custom colors, you will need to use dzen2 to achieve this or patch dwm.

Do you know if there any patches available or some descriptions of how this is accomplished?

The statuscolors patch allows you to write colours to the bar http://dwm.suckless.org/patches/statuscolors
There are a few threads here about using conky piped to dzen2 (which may be more like what you are after)...
